Situated on the edge of Yosemite National Park, which is equally renowned for its beautiful flora and fauna, Sequoia National Park is also adjacent to Kings Canyon. Located in the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains and east of the San Joaquin Valley in the state of California, the park is known worldwide for its giant redwoods, including General Sherman, which dominates the Giant Forest. Surrounded by gigantic landforms, steep foothills, large caves and immense trees, the park offers a natural landscape that is hardly believable. The must-sees of this park remain the underground Crystal Cave which includes streams and surprising rock formations, the Moro Rock which offers a panoramic view of the whole park and finally the very famous Wawona Tunnel Tree, an uprooted redwood whose trunk is cut to let cars pass on the road! The Generals Highway forms a loop and crosses the sequoia park as well as Kings Canyon, but the magic of these environments can be discovered and appreciated on foot. In winter, explore the park on snowshoes or cross-country skis. On sunny days, you can go horseback riding, rock climbing or picnicking under the vastness of the redwoods.
